Mari Dangerfield is an alternative pop artist and composer. She presents a new face to pop with her distinctive and quirky vintage instrument setup including the Dubreq Stylophone and ‘Pianomate’ and use of both elements of singer-songwriter and musical theatre writing to inspire her.
Her debut single ‘Virtually’ innovated with ‘multi-tracking’ of the stylophone. It’s a sound she discovered through David Bowie-an artist she has worshipped since her early teens-when using a pocket electronic synth for a music video competition run by Yann Tiersen, which she won in January 2017.
Back with a string of new releases for 2019, her latest single,‘Love Machine,’ conveys the battle between the logical mind and the heart when it comes to falling for someone very quickly for the first time; It’s a depiction of how the mechanics at play in the mind and heart in this kind of situation almost feel beyond your own control, like a machine is being operated by another machine.
